Bishop Auckland Train Station is the end of the Bishop line. The line continues onto stanhope.

Bishop Trains is located on the station. they sell model railways buses colectes items, everything to do with the railways.

We are now working along side Andrew Dolan and his old united bus to run different events.

The Trust adopted the railway station on the 29th March 2010 from Northern Rail with the aim to

upgrade the poor facilities and make Bishop Auckland Station one of the best small stations in the

North East of England with most of the facilities of a larger mainline station!

The Bishop Line has a rich History it follows part of the original 1825 Stockton and Darlington Railway

the first commercial railway in the world, the railway also passes through Shildon town the "cradle

of the railways" where Timothy Hackworth built up a large steam engine building business in the early

to mid 1800's, Shildon was also home to one of the largest railway wagon building factory's in Britain

until 1984 when it finally closed, it was known locally as" Shildon Shops", Today Shildon is home

to Locomotion the National Railway Museum  which pulls in thousands of visitors each year!

The Bishop Line also runs through Darlington North Road Station which is next to the original

Stockton& Darlington Station of the same name which is now known as Head of steam

museum which houses original steam engines and rolling stock which were built in Darlington and

Shildon and used on the line in the 1800's

We've made it our mission to upgrade Bishop Auckland Railway Station and make it into one of the best small station's in the North East of England and promote rail travel to and from Bishop Auckland

we are a  community group which was formed in November 2009 to campaign for better facilities at our local train station and operate a booking office on a not for profit basis so to invest any profits back into the station to ensure it remains a credit to Northern Rail and the town!
